Media Statement WESTERN CAPE – Three accused, Quireza Malgas (32), Vaughan Malgas (26) and Edward Malgas (24) appeared before Knysna Regional Court on 25 March 2024 on charges of fraud and forgery. Their court appearance results from the period of 22 January 2022 and 29 April 2022 when accused one, Quireza Malgas allegedly falsified SASSA letterheads at her workplace in Knysna. She allegedly sent members of the community to a local loan company to obtain loans using their details on the false letterheads. In return they had to pay her commission. The matter was referred to the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation based in George for a probe. Quireza Malgas pleaded guilty on two counts of forgery. Charge of fraud was withdrawn against the three accused. The matter is postponed to 17 May 2024 for sentencing. Ends
