WESTERN CAPE – The Strand Regional court yesterday, 29 April 2024, sentenced Jason de Bruyn to 25 years imprisonment for murder and two years for defeating the ends of justice. The case was assigned to Detective Sergeant Marlon Appolis of the Anti-Gang Unit, who with due diligence investigated the case. The accused was found guilty after he entered into a plea bargain with the state for the murder that took place on 24 August 2014. During court proceedings it was revealed that the accused and three others killed the deceased and dumped his body in Clarence Drive, Gordon’s Bay. One of the accused turned state witness and the charges were dropped. The case against the two other accused was remanded until 15 May 2024 in the Strand Magistrates’ court.
Police management in the Western Cape welcomed the sentence imposed on Jason de Bruyn.
