Accused before court for possession of unlicensed firearms

POTCHEFSTROOM – Isaac Matlhaki, aged 41, appeared before the Klerksdorp Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 19 July 2024, for being in possession of two unlicensed firearms. He was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on Monday, 29 July 2024.

His court appearance came after information was received and operationalized, leading police to a house in Extention 14, Jouberton on Wednesday, 17 July 2024. Police found the accused on the premises and searched the house. Two firearms were allegedly discovered of which the serial numbers were filed off, leading to his immediate arrest.

The Provincial Police Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, said police will not be successful without community being the eyes and the ears of police.
