KWAZULU-NATAL – On Monday 02 September2024, Sigcino Sinakhokonke Kunene (27) briefly appeared in the Melmoth Magistrates Court for corruption. It is alleged that during the period of September 2018, the accused was an applicant at Mtonjaneni Municipality Vehicle Testing Facility to write Drivers Leaners Licence. It is further said that the accused paid an amount of R2 500-00 as gratification to the officials in order to be aided to pass the Drivers Learners Licence Test. A case of corruption was reported at Melmoth police station. The case docket was allocated to the Hawks members from Durban Serious Corruption Investigation for further probe. An intensive investigation was conducted. On Monday, 02 September 2024, the accused arrested and charged for corruption. The accused appeared before the Melmoth Magistrate court. He was released on R800-00 bail. The matter remanded to 18 September 2024, in the Richards Bay Regional Court. The KwaZulu-Natal Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Provincial Head, Major General (Dr) Lesetja Senona welcomed the arrest and applauded the members for the good work. Ends
