FREE STATE – On Thursday, 6 February 2025, Lekhotla Johannes Mosoeu (47) and his company Johny Bravo Trading were issued with summons to appear before the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court and were released on warning. It is alleged that during the period from 01 March 2020 until 31 December 2021, a business entity based in Bloemfontein, represented by Mosoeu lodged an application for Covid-19 Temporary Employee Relief Scheme (TERS) with the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) on behalf of its purported employees, which was approved. An amount of about R751 829-92 was paid to Johny Bravo Trading bank account on behalf of thirty-two individuals. Eight out of the thirty-two confirmed that they were never employed by the said company and have never received any TERS money from UIF. A case docket was registered and referred to the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation for further investigation which resulted to the arrest of the accused and his company. The court released the two on warning and the matter was postponed to 6 March 2025 for transfer to the Regional Court.
