A 48-year-old police officer is to appear before the Gilead Periodical Court facing a corruption charge on Monday (04 May 2026)
The officer was arrested by the Limpopo Anti-Corruption Unit on Wednesday after receiving a complaint from a member of the Gilead Taxi Association in the Waterberg District.
According to the provincial police, the officer solicited R15000.00 in cash from all taxi operators in the area who are operating without proper documentation.
Police say the Provincial Anti-Corruption Unit arranged physical transactions between the Taxi Association and the female officer on Thursday.
The officer was apprehended immediately after receiving the money.
Meanwhile, Provincial Police Commissioner Lt General Thembi Hadebe has expressed her strong displeasure at the member’s conduct.
