Media Statement POLOKWANE – On 27 February 2025, in the afternoon, a 62-year-old farmer went to his kraal at Xikundu Village to check his cattle. On his arrival, he found that three of his cattle were missing. David Netshilaphala, 62, was reported missing to Saselamani SAPS two days after the incident. Members of the community gathered and started to burn houses of the suspects alleged to be responsible for the missing person. Six houses were burnt, and one person from the community was arrested and charged with arson. The search continued until Monday, 10 March 2025, when farmers provided information to the investigation team about the possible suspects. The information was operationalised to Shimausa Village and Tiyani Magoro Village in Hlanganani policing area under Mopani District where two suspects aged between 21 and 31 were linked and arrested for murder The suspects led the police to a crime scene where they dumped the body believed to be of the missing person. The body was positively identified to be the one of the missing farmer by next of kin. The suspects will appear before Malamulele Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday 18 March 2025 facing a charge of murder and stock theft.
