POLOKWANE – The Police in Sebayeng outside Mankweng apprehended a 30-year-old man for possession of suspected stolen property, unlicensed firearms and attempted murder at Titibe village in Sebayeng Policing area on Thursday afternoon, 03 April 2025. Modjadjiskloof SAPS members received information about a vehicle that committed a robbery at Ga-sekgopo village driving on the R81 road towards Ga-Dikgale. They responded swiftly to the incident and the vehicle matching the description was identified driving at a high speed towards Titibe village in Ga-Dikgale, where they lost control and derailed from the tarred road. The suspects started firing shots at the Police and ran into the bushes. SAPS members returned the fire, resulting in one of the suspects getting injured on his leg. Upon the arrest, the following items were recovered, two unlicensed firearms, cellphones, grinder, hammer, bags, and clothes. The third firearm was found at Titibe village on Friday, 04 April 2025 and the second suspect was also arrested. The preliminary investigations revealed that on Thursday, 03 April 2025 at around 12:00, the victim was driving a bakery truck delivering bread at Sekgopo village tuckshops. They were approached by armed men who fired one shot at them. The bakery truck driver stopped the truck. The suspects robbed them of their cellphones, money and took them to the bushes where they were held hostage. They tampered with the safe and undisclosed amount of money was taken. The suspects will appear before Mankweng Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 07 April 2025 facing charges including attempted murder, possession of unlicensed firearms and possession suspected stolen property.
