POLOKWANE – A 49-year-old male suspect appeared before Tiyani magistrate’s court on Friday, 14 February 2025, for murder of a sheriff of court at Tiyani Village in the Hlanganani policing area in Mopani District. His case was postponed to Wednesday 19 February 2025 for bail application, and he is in custody. The 49-year-old male suspect was apprehended and detained at Hlanganani SAPS, following a murder of a sheriff of court. According to the reports, on Thursday, 13 February 2025, a sheriff of court was supposed to serve a court order to repossess the HINO 700 truck; the sheriff was shot to death, and the suspect allegedly fled the scene after shooting him. Members of Mopani Tracking Team, Mopani Highway Patrol, Hlanganani Vispol, and Hlanganani Detectives were summoned to the scene of crime. Investigations were activated, and the suspect was traced until late hours, when he handed himself over to the police. His licensed 9mm pistol was confiscated with two live ammunitions for investigations. Police investigations are underway.
