Media Statement POLOKWANE – A 43-year-old man arrested by Makhado Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl at Makhitha village Tshilwavhusiku policing area is expected to appear before Court. According to the information received, the victim was at school writing her examination on Monday, 27 May 2024, when she disclosed this disturbing incident to one of her teachers. The teacher notified the school principal, and the mother was also notified. A preliminary investigation revealed that on Saturday, 25 May 2024 at about 09:00, the victim was at home when the suspect called her to his house and ordered her to follow him inside the house. She followed him through the house to the bedroom, where he undressed her and raped her. It is also alleged that the suspect reportedly raped the victim in June 2023 and promised to pay her money. The incident was reported to the police, and a case of rape was opened. The case was then transferred to Makhado Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offenses (FCS) Unit for further investigations. The suspect was arrested on Tuesday 28 May 2024 at Makhitha village. The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, hailed the arrest and praised the investigating officer for ensuring that the suspect was apprehended. . He will appear before Tshilwavhusiku Magistrate’s Court on Thursday 30 May 2024 on charges of rape. Police investigations are still continuing. Ends
