Media Statement POLOKWANE – A 43-year-old male suspect was nabbed for illegal mining of sand, following a disruptive operation activated at Vergelegen C illegal mining site under the policing area of Jane Furse. According to information received, the members were conducting disruptive operations at the identified illegal mining sites in Jane Furse when the suspect was found loading sand in a truck without a mining permit. He was placed under arrest and charged with illegal mining of sand. Police seized, four shovels, and one pick with a handle that were utilised by the suspect. The Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has commended the members for effecting an arrest. The suspect paid an admission of guilt, which is fine amounting to R1500. The Police investigations are continuing. Ends
