POLOKWANE – A 39-year-old male suspect was arrested on Monday, 24 February 2025, at around 15h00, at Klein Letaba bushes, after he handed himself over to the Police. The Members of Mopani Tracking Team, Giyani Detectives, and Giyani Vispol received intelligence information about the suspect’s hiding place. Upon arrival, community members were already gathered at the scene. The suspect noticed the Police and ran to them. He was immediately arrested. This is after the Police initiated investigations to hunt for the suspect who allegedly killed his ex-girlfriend aged 26 and stabbed three people with a bottle during the incident, on Sunday, 23 February 2025, at around 20:20 in Homu 14B Village, at Giyani policing area. The suspect arrived at the deceased’s residence, who was his ex-girlfriend, and waited at the gate. He requested water, and the deceased went to fetch water for him. He suddenly assaulted her with a beer bottle. The victim ran into her house and he followed and stabbed her multiple times. Her family tried to rescue her, but the suspect also stabbed and injured three people, including the victim’s mother and a younger brother with a bottle. He then fled the scene and disappeared. The Police and paramedics were summoned to the scene. Upon arrival, the female aged 26 was certified dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the three injured victims were transported to the local hospital for medical treatment. The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has welcomed the arrest and commended the community and everyone who participated to ensure that he is swiftly apprehended. He will appear before the Giyani Magistrate’s Court soon. The Police investigations are continuing. Ends
