Media Statement POLOKWANE – A 32-year-old male suspect, arrested for cases of armed robbery, common robbery, two counts of murder and two counts of car hijacking, is set to appear before Siyabuswa Magistrate’s Court in absentia on Tuesday, 28 January 2025. According to reports, the suspect together with another unknown man, committed a common robbery at Moteti Slovo, in Dennilton policing area, on 26 January 2025 at around 20:45. Reports suggest that the victim was walking home along the street when he noticed that the suspects were following him. He tried to run away but the two suspects chased and caught him. They robbed him of his cellphone and fled. He screamed for help and community members responded. The suspects were chased until to the nearby bushes. One suspect was caught and assaulted by angry community members. Police were summoned to the scene and the seriously wounded man was transported to local hospital by paramedics. He was then arrested and placed under police guard. Further police investigations linked him to more charges, two counts of murder committed in Dennilton and Siyabuswa during the years 2016 and 2021, carjackings reported in Dennilton and Mametlhake in 2019 and 2024. Meanwhile, in another incident the same suspect and his accomplice are accused of pointing a male victim with a firearm and robbing him of his belongings such as cellphone and sandals. The victim was walking to his home at around 20h00, on 16 January 2025.
