POLOKWANE – A 32-year-old male suspect is due to appear before Nebo Magistrate Court on Monday, 24 March 2025, following a rape incident of a 17-year-old female victim at Mogaladi village on Friday 21 March 2025 at about 18:00. The female victim told her mother about the rape incident perpetrated by a 32-year-old known male whom she met on the street while coming back from her friends place. The suspect allegedly took out a knife and threatened to kill her if she does not follow him to his place and she complied. Upon their arrival, he locked her inside the house and pushed her on the bed. The victim attempted to fight with the suspect but failed and unexpectedly raped by the suspect. Afterwards, the 17-year-old victim ran out of the house but fell down and sustained minor bruises on her thighs and knees. Upon arrival at home, the rape incident was immediately reported to the local police, resulting in a massive search for the suspect. The suspect was ultimately apprehended at his residence in Mogaladi village on Saturday, 22 March 2025. The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has welcomed the arrest and condemned violence perpetrated against vulnerable people. “The law must take its course without fear or favour, enough is enough!,” said Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe.
