Police Arrest Three Suspects In Dawn Park Woman’s Murder
Police have arrested three suspects one man and two women in connection with the murder of a woman whose body was found in Dawn Park, Boksburg, last week.
The Gauteng Murder and Robbery Unit arrested the trio over the weekend. They are expected to appear in the Boksburg Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 21 September.
The woman’s body was discovered on the morning of Thursday, 17 September, in an open area on Lama Street in Villa Lisa, Dawn Park.
Police said the woman was believed to be about 30 years old and was found partially clothed. Preliminary indications suggested that she may have been killed elsewhere before her body was dumped at the scene.
Her death brought to nine the number of women whose bodies have been discovered in different parts of Ekurhuleni over the past two months.
The cases include deaths in Kempton Park, Olifantsfontein, Tembisa and KwaThema. Police have established a multidisciplinary team to investigate the cases and determine the circumstances surrounding each death.
Acting National Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane said all nine murder cases were receiving priority attention.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said further details about the Dawn Park case would be presented in court.
Police have not confirmed that the nine cases are connected, and the three suspects arrested in the Dawn Park case have not been publicly linked to the other deaths.
