Pirates’ boy scores in Europe — Ouaddou “He’s the example.”

Relebohile Mofokeng didn’t ease into the Europa League. He kicked the door in.

On his UEFA debut for Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, the former Orlando Pirates star smashed the opener in a 3-0 win at Viktoria Plzeň.

This was his fourth goal in eight games for the Belgian club. Back in Soweto, Buccaneers coach Abdeslam Ouaddou didn’t hold back.

“Orlando Pirates has been building stories for decades, and credit has to be given to the club,” Ouaddou said.

“But coming back to Rele Mofokeng, I have a big heart with my players. He’s the example we have to follow if we are ambitious. This boy was very ambitious.

“Everything he did in our team was always forward. I’m happy for him. I hope he continues. It’s a very good image for the Orlando Pirates brand in Europe.”

Four goals. Eight games. One European night. The Pirates flag is flying in the Europa League — and Ouaddou wants the next generation to chase the same hunger.
