Award-winning South African rapper Nasty C has publicly called out national leadership for their failure to combat violent crime, following the tragic discovery of nine women found murdered and dumped across Ekurhuleni in Gauteng.
Taking to his official Nasty C Facebook Page, the multi-platinum artist expressed deep frustration with the status quo, venting his exhaustion over a repetitive cycle of violence followed merely by social media outrage.
“We’re gonna be stuck in this loop of crime & hashtags for a very long time until someone breaks it,” the rapper wrote. “And that someone is in the office where they make decisions on how this country is ran.”
The discovery of the nine bodies has sparked widespread anger and renewed urgent conversations around gender-based violence (GBV) in South Africa.
Nasty C argued that the continuous safety crisis stems directly from a lack of political will at the highest levels of governance.
“If those guys really cared, we’d see real change and our country would be a much safer place for women, for children, for everyone,” he continued.
“We need them to stand up and do right by our women and our country. Until then, the cycle continues. This sh*t is exhausting.”
