Ramaphosa joins BRICS leaders for family photo as New Delhi summit wraps
President Cyril Ramaphosa joined fellow BRICS leaders and invited heads of government for the official family photograph at the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit in New Delhi on Sunday.
The photograph was taken at Bharat Mandapam as the two-day summit, hosted by India, drew to a close. The expanded BRICS grouping includes 11 member states, with partner countries and other invited leaders also participating.
Ramaphosa appeared alongside Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and other leaders, as well as UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
The summit focused on strengthening cooperation among BRICS members, including trade and investment, financial cooperation, global governance reform and issues affecting the Global South.
Ramaphosa used the summit to promote stronger economic ties, intra-BRICS trade and cooperation on industrialisation, infrastructure and development. He also called for stronger multilateralism and reform of global institutions.
India handed over the BRICS chairship to China, which will host the 19th summit in 2027.
