Eight killed in head-on crash on N17 near Ermelo
Eight people, including two children, have died in a head-on collision between a Toyota Corolla and a Volkswagen sedan on the N17 between Ermelo and Davel in Mpumalanga.
The crash occurred in the early hours of today, Sunday, 13 September 2026.
All eight occupants were declared dead at the scene. Emergency services responded to the crash and attended to the wreckage.
The circumstances surrounding the collision have not yet been confirmed, and an investigation is expected to determine what led to the vehicles colliding.
The identities of the deceased have not been released, pending notification of their next of kin.
Motorists travelling along the N17 in the area were urged to exercise caution as emergency services worked at the crash scene and cleared the roadway.
