Zimbabwean National Sentence To Eight Years Over Business Burglary
A 26-year-old Zimbabwean national has been sentenced to eight years in prison for a business burglary in Alldays, Limpopo after fingerprints lifted from the crime scene linked him to the case more than three years later.
According to police, Tshepo Ndou broke into the NTK premises in Alldays at about 03:30 on 6 January 2023 and stole two cellphones, a laptop and a UPS system worth about R50,000.
Members of the Musina Local Criminal Record Centre processed the scene and lifted fingerprints. The case was initially filed as undetected, but Alldays SAPS Detective Sergeant Nakedi Raletjena continued with the investigation.
Forensic analysis later matched the fingerprints to Ndou.
Police said further profiling revealed that Ndou had been arrested in Rustenburg, North West, and was due to appear in court on 9 October 2024 on separate charges, including attempted murder, robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
He was subsequently traced, arrested and detained.
The Senwabarwana Regional Court convicted Ndou on Thursday, 10 September 2026. He was sentenced to eight years’ direct imprisonment for business burglary and a further six months for being in South Africa illegally. The sentences will run concurrently.
The court also declared him unfit to possess a firearm.
Limpopo police welcomed the sentence, saying the case demonstrates the value of forensic evidence and persistent detective work in solving cases that initially remain undetected.
NTK is an agricultural business serving farmers in the Alldays area.
Police have not indicated whether the stolen property was recovered. Ndou also faces the separate charges in North West.
