Limpopo Police Commissioner fulfils Premier's wish by appointing a woman as his deputy

POLOKWANE: Limpopo SAPS has unveiled its new Provincial Management Team, including Major General FM Sebola as Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Corporate Services.

Major General LJ Mashilo will oversee Policing, while Major General SW Mashaba will lead Crime Detection.

Mashilo has 37 years of SAPS experience and previously served as Capricorn District Commissioner. Mashaba has 38 years of service and was Mopani District Commissioner.

Sebola, appointed in October 2025, has 19 years of service and has held several senior positions.

Together with Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Jan Scheepers, the team has 126 years of combined SAPS experience.

Scheepers said the appointments should improve leadership, police response, investigations and service delivery.

The appointments follow calls by Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba for more women in senior SAPS leadership positions.

Scheepers urged the team to serve with integrity, professionalism and dedication, while calling for cooperation between police, government, communities and other stakeholders.

He also encouraged residents to report crime and provide information to law-enforcement authorities.
