Alleged Lusikisiki Mastermind Grills Co-Accused Over ‘Contradictory’
Tensions flared in the Mthatha High Court in the Eastern Cape special sitting yesterday as alleged mastermind Mzukisi Ndamase fiercely cross-examined his co-accused, Bonga Hintsa, exposing what he claimed were glaring contradictions in the state’s case.
Ndamase, who is legally representing himself, put Hintsa under intense pressure.
He pointedly challenged Hintsa’s claims regarding who ordered the hits connected to the brutal killings that shocked the nation.
During a heated back-and-forth, Ndamase accused Hintsa of shifting his narrative, pointing out that Hintsa had given conflicting statements to different parties.
Ndamase argued that Hintsa’s testimony—which alleges he orchestrated the killings from behind bars—does not hold up under scrutiny.
“You claim that I sent you to kill people,” Ndamase asserted in open court, “but you also tell other people that I didn’t send you, and that I sent others instead.”
Pressing further, Ndamase logically questioned why he would ever recruit Hintsa for such a task if he already had an established network at his disposal.
He suggested that Hintsa and his associates were simply using him as a convenient scapegoat to deflect from their own voluntary criminal actions.
“If I already have people who kill for me, why would I send you?” Ndamase demanded, before telling Hintsa to take ownership of the crimes.
“Just admit that you wanted to kill on your own accord and that you were not sent by me.”
The high-stakes trial continues as the court systematically unpacks testimonies from the six co-accused facing multiple charges of murder, conspiracy, and illegal firearms possession.
