Singer Zoë Modiga distance herself from “Thula” remix release, threatens legal action against Culoe De Song
South African singer-songwriter Zoë Modiga has publicly distanced herself from the newly dropped Bandabanda “Thula” by Culoe De Song Remix, stating the track was put out completely without her knowledge or consent.
In an official statement released by the artist and her Yelloëwax Team, Modiga clarified that she was completely blindsided by the launch.
“I want to make it clear that I had no prior knowledge of, involvement in, or approval of the release in question,” Modiga stated.
“I was neither consulted about nor did I give my approval for the release.“
According to the statement, behind-the-scenes ownership conflicts are at the heart of the dispute.
The artist revealed that unresolved legal discussions are still actively underway regarding the rights, ownership, and commercial arrangements tied to the musical work.
Because the unauthorized release skipped past these crucial agreements, Modiga has formally handed the dispute over to her lawyers.
She confirmed that she has instructed her legal representatives to handle the matter with the utmost urgency and to initiate formal legal procedures.
While the situation is bound to cause a stir in the local music industry, fans waiting for a deeper public breakdown will have to wait.
Modiga concluded her statement by taking a strict legal stance, noting that she does not intend to engage in any public debates regarding the underlying dispute while it is being actively processed through formal legal channels.
Culoe De Song has not responded to the statement made by Modiga.
