Siwelele FC sack Seema after winless start
Siwelele FC have parted ways with head coach Lehlohonolo Seema and assistant coach Willem Jackson after a disappointing start to the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season.
Chairman Calvin Le John confirmed the decision in a statement issued on Monday morning.
The Bloemfontein-based club, which finished 10th in its debut campaign last season after acquiring SuperSport United’s status.
But things have started too slow this season with the team eking out just two points from five matches and sits 14th on the log.
Siwelele remain without a win, with two draws and three defeats, five goals scored and nine conceded.
Their most recent result was a 3-2 loss to Kaizer Chiefs at Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday.
Earlier results included a 2-2 home draw with TS Galaxy, a 1-0 away defeat to Milford FC, a 2-0 loss at AmaZulu and a 1-1 home draw against Chippa United.
“Following a disappointing start to the 2026/27 season, Siwelele FC has relieved Head Coach Lehlohonolo Seema and Assistant Coach Willem Jackson of their first-team duties while the club conducts a review of the senior team’s performance and technical programme,” the club said.
Godfrey Mosoetsa has been appointed caretaker coach with immediate effect. Le John acknowledged the frustration of supporters.
“This has been a challenging period for the club, and our supporters deserve better than what they have seen so far this season. Our belief in this team, in our players and in what we are building at Siwelele remains unchanged.
“This is a moment to stand together, to work harder and to embody the spirit that defines this club: courage, unity and fighting for one another.
“Our season is still young. We will face the challenge in front of us together, as one team and one family.”
The club said it would announce its longer-term coaching plans once the internal review is complete and would make no further comment in the meantime.
Siwelele face a daunting midweek trip to league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday.
