Advocate Ntuthuzelo Vanara Appointed as Acting Head of South Africa’s Anti-Corruption Body (IDAC)
In a decisive move to maintain the momentum of South Africa’s anti-graft efforts, the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mmamoloko Kubayi, has appointed seasoned legal professional Advocate Ntuthuzelo Vanara as the Acting Head of the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC).
The ministry confirmed the appointment on Thursday following structural consultations with the National Director of Public Prosecutions, Advocate Andy Mothibi.
Vanara will fill the position effectively on an interim basis until a permanent replacement is formally assigned.
The leadership shuffle follows the resignation of the outgoing director, Advocate Andrea Johnson.
Stepping into the role, Vanara brings an extensive professional record spanning over 25 years.
His career covers complex regulatory, legal, and governance mandates across several high-profile state organs, state-owned enterprises, and Parliament.
Most notably, he served as the Group Executive for Legal, Governance, and Regulatory affairs at the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC).
The ministry expects Vanara’s deep experience in highly regulated frameworks to seamlessly steer IDAC through its ongoing operational mandate as the country continues its institutionalized fight against administrative corruption.
