Limpopo rolls out red carpet for African tourism leaders as ATLF 2026 gets underway
Limpopo Economic Development and Tourism MEC Tshitereke Matibe has welcomed senior government officials from Uganda and Mauritius at the Polokwane Gateway International Airport as the province prepares to host the 8th Africa Tourism Leadership Forum (ATLF) and Awards.
The high-level tourism gathering takes place in Polokwane from 2 to 4 September 2026, with the main programme hosted at Meropa Casino and Entertainment World under the theme “Africa Connects.”
The arrival of the ministers marks the beginning of a major continental tourism engagement expected to bring together tourism ministers, policymakers, investors, business leaders and industry experts from across Africa.
The official ATLF programme lists Uganda’s Minister of State for Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, Susan Nsambu Nakawuki, among the 2026 speakers, alongside a range of African and international tourism leaders.
MEC Matibe is also among the speakers representing Limpopo.
The province’s diverse profile as a key factor in hosting the forum represents an opportunity to showcase the province’s tourism offering while positioning it as a gateway for increased intra-African travel, investment and business partnerships.
The province’s strategic location bordering Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique places it at the centre of discussions around cross-border tourism, regional connectivity and the movement of people and businesses within Africa.
