Orlando Pirates sign promising youngster Chaney
Orlando Pirates have signed of teenage sensation Edmilson Chaney from Hope FC, the Western Cape side has confirmed.
The 19-year-old winger made a name for himself at Hope FC in the ABC Motsepe League last season. He also impressed during the ABC Motsepe League promotional playoffs in the Eastern Cape.
His performances attracted interest from several Betway Premiership and Motsepe Foundation Championship clubs, but Pirates won the race for his signature.
Hope FC confirmed Chaney’s departure on Monday. “Edmilson ‘Millies’ Chaney departs Hope FC after completing a transfer to Orlando Pirates,” the club stated.
Hope also praised the youngster for his contribution to their promotion campaign.
“A young man who played an important role in our promotion and whose journey represents exactly what we want Hope FC to stand for — creating opportunities and pathways for young talent to reach the highest level.”
“To Millies and his family, we wish you nothing but success in this next chapter,” added the club.
It was initially believed Chaney had been loaned back to The Immortals for the 2026/27 campaign, but Hope FC made no mention of such an arrangement in its announcement.
