POLICE IN LETLHABILE INVESTIGATE MURDER OF A 15-YEAR-OLD LEARNER
The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Letlhabile is investigating a case of murder following the fatal stabbing of a 15-year-old learner in Zone 4, Letlhabile.
On Tuesday morning, Letlhabile police received a complaint from Letlhabile Clinic that a 15-year-old male learner had been brought to the facility with stab wounds.
The victim succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased upon arrival at the clinic by medical personnel.
The victim was subsequently identified by his mother as her 15-year-old son, who was a learner at a secondary school in Letlhabile.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim was allegedly involved in a confrontation with a 19-year-old suspect, who is known to him.
During the alleged confrontation, the victim sustained multiple stab wounds.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged confrontation remain under investigation. The 19-year-old suspect was subsequently traced and arrested in Letlhabile. The suspect had also allegedly sustained injuries during the incident and is currently receiving medical attention.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Brits Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 27 August 2026, facing a charge of murder.
SAPS appeals to anyone who may have information that could assist with the investigation to come forward and provide it to the investigating officer or the nearest police station.
The investigation is ongoing, and SAPS will refrain from disclosing information that could potentially compromise the investigation.
