Former Orlando Pirates star Benedict “Tso” Vilakazi has given his opinion on the surprise departure of Patrick “Tito” Maswanganyi.
Pirates announced on Monday evening that Maswanganyi had been sold to a club in Bahrain, ending speculation about his future.

Maswanganyi had become one of the club’s biggest fan favourites over the past few seasons. His departure also comes after Relebohile Mofokeng left the club.
With two experienced playmakers no longer at Pirates, there are concerns that the team could struggle in attack.

However, Vilakazi believes Pirates will cope without Maswanganyi, just as they have done after losing other key players.
“Will Pirates miss Tito? No. They won’t miss him. Do you know why?” Vilakazi said.

“What is happening now is similar to what happened before when we had Mbokazi, and he left. But we carried on as Pirates.

“There was also Mohau Nkota. He left, and we continued. Then there was the President yama2K (Rele Mofokeng) generation. He left, and we are still going.
“I’m saying this because there were players before them, and there will be players after them.

“But I want to say thank you to Tito. He contributed to Orlando Pirates, and we won trophies with him. He showed us his quality and did very well for us.”
Vilakazi admitted, however, that Pirates could miss his contribution during difficult matches.

“Yes, there will be games where things will be very tough, and we will say, ‘Eish, if only Tito was still here.’
“But now we need to put ourselves in a position where we can move forward without him, just as we did with others before him,” Vilakazi added.
