Kwinika sees big improvement at Chiefs under Da Cruz
Veteran Kaizer Chiefs defender Zitha Kwinika says there has been a big improvement in the team spirit as the players continue to adapt to new coach Fernando Da Cruz’s system and structure.
Amakhosi have made a positive start to the Betway Premiership campaign, winning two and drawing one of their opening three matches.
The results have left Chiefs second on the log with seven points. They are level on points with leaders Orlando Pirates but trail them on goal difference.
Speaking to the club’s media, Kwinika said he is also working on finding his rhythm and is pleased with his progress.
“I would say all is well as we build into the new season. We are gaining momentum and growing in the games we have played so far.
“I would say I am doing well, but I hope to get better and continue improving as the season goes,” said the 32-year-old.
On the team’s progress, Kwinika said the players are becoming more comfortable with Da Cruz’s tactics.
“We have shown in the games we have played that we are a different team based on the way we play, our structure and how we do things.
“I think it has shown that there is improvement. There are new tactics in place and we are trying to reach a point where we enjoy playing this way and everyone understands it.”
Chiefs’ next match is against Richards Bay at Princess Magogo Stadium in KwaMashu on Wednesday night.
