Financial Clerk Appears in Court Over Alleged R244,000 School Fraud
A financial clerk accused of allegedly diverting more than R244,000 from a North West high school’s bank accounts into her personal account has appeared in court facing 10 counts of fraud.
Kebafilwe Sylvia Mokgosi, 32, appeared before the Lehurutshe Magistrates’ Court on Friday following her arrest by members of the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation in Mmabatho.
Mokgosi was arrested on 21 August 2026 after an investigation into alleged financial misconduct at Ramatu High School in Lehurutshe.
According to the allegations, more than R244,000 was transferred from the school’s bank accounts into Mokgosi’s personal bank account between 2023 and 2024.
The Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation unit investigated the alleged transactions before Mokgosi was arrested and charged with fraud.
Financial Clerk Accused of Diverting School Funds
The case centres on alleged transactions involving funds belonging to Ramatu High School.
Investigators allege that Mokgosi transferred the money from the school’s accounts into her own account over a period spanning 2023 and 2024.
The allegations have placed the school’s financial controls under scrutiny as the criminal case moves through the courts.
Mokgosi now faces 10 counts of fraud in connection with the alleged transactions.
Mokgosi Granted R1,000 Bail
Following her appearance, the court granted Mokgosi bail of R1,000.
Her case has been postponed to 28 September 2026, when she is expected to return to the Lehurutshe Magistrates’ Court.
The allegations against Mokgosi have not been tested in court. She remains presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
The case is expected to shed further light on the alleged movement of the school funds as legal proceedings continue.
