Police seek Soweto man after girlfriend found stabbed in Orlando East backroom
Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of 27-year-old Simiso Silomo Phakathi in connection with the murder of his girlfriend, 37-year-old Jabulisile Josephina Tshabalala.
Tshabalala was last seen alive on 7 August 2026. Her body was discovered on 13 August inside the backroom the couple shared in Orlando East, Soweto. She had been stabbed to death and her body was found covered with blankets and clothes.
A J50 warrant of arrest for murder has been issued against Phakathi, who is considered dangerous.
Anyone who sees him or has information on his whereabouts is urged to contact Warrant Officer Zwane immediately on 082 455 8572 or report to the nearest police station. Police have appealed to the public not to harbour or assist the suspect.
The case is being investigated as an alleged intimate-partner killing. No further details on a possible motive have been released.
