Tributes Pour In for Late Maskandi Star Scebi ‘InkosiyamaGcokama’ Dlamini
Grief has swept through the Maskandi community following the tragic death of rising star Scebi “InkosiyamaGcokama” Dlamini, with musicians, community leaders and business figures rallying around his family in Msinga, KwaZulu-Natal.
The late musician’s family home in emaChunwini has become a place of mourning, as tributes continue to pour in for an artist whose music helped put his community on the cultural map.
Among those who have visited the grieving family is the leadership of uMzinyathi District Municipality, which travelled to the Dlamini homestead to offer its condolences.
Municipal officials described Dlamini as a significant local talent whose contribution to Maskandi music brought recognition to the region.
The municipality has also stepped in to assist with funeral preparations, announcing a donation of a cow to the family.
Officials said municipal leadership would meet again to consider additional ways of supporting the Dlamini family during the difficult days ahead.
Maskandi Stars Stand With the Dlamini Family
The music fraternity has also rallied behind the family, with several well known Maskandi figures making their way to the homestead to pay their respects.
Maskandi stars Khuzani and Ntencane, who were reportedly present during the tragic incident, visited the family alongside businessman Vezokuhle Nala of aMathole Funerals.
Their presence underscored the deep sense of loss within the music community as fellow artists gathered to support Dlamini’s relatives.
Earlier, fellow musician Mjolisi also visited the family to express his condolences.
Mjolisi went further by donating two cows and a sheep to assist with the funeral arrangements, providing practical support to the family as preparations continue.

As condolences continue to arrive, attention has now turned to Dlamini’s funeral, with arrangements reportedly under way.
The death has left the local community mourning the loss of an artist who was regarded as a rising cultural figure in the Maskandi scene.
For those closest to him, the days ahead will be marked by grief, remembrance and the difficult task of laying a beloved family member and musician to rest.
Dlamini is expected to be buried on Saturday at his homestead in Msinga, KwaZulu-Natal.
