Appollis opens up on Jayden Adams’ passing
Orlando Pirates midfielder Oswin Appollis has spoken for the first time about the tragic passing of his close friend and Bafana Bafana teammate, Jayden Adams.
The two shared a strong bond on and off the field, making Adams’ death even more difficult for Appollis to accept.
Speaking to the media, the Pirates star admitted that receiving the news was heartbreaking.
“Obviously, when I got the news, it was difficult. But you know, things happen. The man above is the one who decides these things,” said Appollis.
Despite his grief, the 24-year-old said he has to remain focused on his football career because many people depend on him.
“As you know, I have to continue doing my job because this is my job. If I don’t do anything, then what will happen to my family and to me?” he said.
Appollis added that he has continued working hard as Orlando Pirates prepare for the new Betway Premiership season.
“I have to keep working, and the season is starting now. I am ready,” he concluded.
The winger will be hoping to help the Buccaneers defend their Betway Premiership title after playing a key role in the club’s successful campaign last season.
