SASSA beneficiaries ignoring review messages risk having grants cut off
People who ignore messages from SASSA to visit their offices for grant reviews risk having their government financial aid cut off.
The agency has reminded individuals who received a message instructing them to go to their offices with the required information not to delay, as this process checks whether the beneficiary’s financial situation has changed.
SASSA Spokesperson, Dr Paseka Letsatsi, stated that people who do not receive their grants should not panic, even though their money will be delayed.
“Those who did not receive their grants on the scheduled payment dates are informed that they will get their money on August 7, 2026. They are notified that their grants will be undergoing processing,” he said.
He mentioned that the older persons’ pension will be paid on Tuesday, August 4, the disability grant on Wednesday, August 5, and the child support grant on Thursday, August 6.
“We send text messages to those whose grants are being reviewed. It is important for a beneficiary to inform us if they change their contact number.”He added that beneficiaries must also notify them of changes in residential address, marital status, or international travel, as these factors can affect grant payouts.
“Through this, we aim to ensure that the grant is still being received by the rightful person, and to prevent corruption in grant payouts. We are also protecting public funds. Those called to the offices for a grant review must bring their identity documents, proof of residence, proof of income, as well as a bank statement showing income and expenditures.“
Other required details depend on the specific grant being reviewed, including marriage certificates, death certificates, affidavits, child birth certificates, and school enrollment letters.
People are also encouraged to use the agency’s online digital platforms to avoid overcrowding at the offices, and free Wi-Fi is available at SASSA branches.
