Kaizer Chiefs sign Tanzania captain Adolf Mtasingwa

Kaizer Chiefs have officially confirmed the signing of Tanzanian midfielder Adolf Mtasingwa Bitegeko from Azam FC ahead of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season.
The Soweto giants announced the transfer on Monday after reaching an agreement with the Tanzanian club for an undisclosed transfer fee.
Mtasingwa, 27, arrives at Naturena as one of Tanzania’s most highly-rated defensive midfielders, having captained Azam FC during his time at the club.
His move also makes history, as he becomes the first Tanzanian footballer to wear the famous black and gold jersey of Amakhosi.
Chiefs described the deal as another milestone in the club’s rich African heritage, with players from more than 20 African countries having represented the Glamour Boys over the years.
“His arrival adds to the impressive list of players from over 20 different African countries who have worn the famous Gold and Black jersey,” said Amakhosi.
The defensive midfielder is expected to add steel, leadership and experience to the Chiefs midfield as the club continues rebuilding its squad for the new campaign.
Mtasingwa’s arrival is another statement of intent from Amakhosi, who have been lax in the transfer market.
Chiefs supporters will now be eager to see how quickly the former Azam captain settles into South African football.
