The founder of the Limpopo Anti-Drugs, Gangsterism and Crime (LADGAC) Rehabilitation Centre, Philly Moloto, has been granted bail of R50,000 after appearing in court on charges linked to two alleged incidents of malicious damage to property that left an estimated R800,000 in damage.

The 51-year-old appeared before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, where the court ordered his release on bail while police continue their investigation into the case.

Earlier in the day, Moloto made a brief appearance in the Seshego Magistrate’s Court in connection with one of the charges before his matter was transferred to the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court.

His arrest followed a police operation on Monday, 13 July 2026, when officers executed a warrant of arrest at his home in the Welgelegen suburb of Polokwane.

According to police, Moloto is facing two counts of malicious damage to property stemming from incidents allegedly committed in Seshego and Westenburg on 28 June 2026.

Investigators allege that Moloto first set alight a signboard belonging to a rehabilitation centre in Ladanna before travelling to a property in Seshego, where he allegedly torched a Toyota Hilux Extended Cab parked at the residence of the centre’s owner.

Police estimate the combined value of the damaged property at approximately R800,000.

The allegations have sent shockwaves through Limpopo, given Moloto’s long-standing public profile as the founder of an organisation focused on combating drug abuse, gangsterism and crime. The criminal charges now place the anti-crime activist at the centre of a high-profile legal battle that is likely to attract significant public attention in the months ahead.

The case has been postponed until 22 September 2026 to allow for further police investigations.

As legal proceedings continue, Moloto remains out on bail, while the court process will determine the merits of the allegations against him.
