Xolani Khumalo to Lead Etwatwa March Demanding Removal of Police Station Commander
South Africa’s growing frustration over crime and policing is set to take centre stage in Etwatwa, where former Sizok’thola presenter and ActionSA Ekurhuleni mayoral candidate Xolani Khumalo will lead a community march demanding the removal of the local police station commander.
The demonstration, scheduled for 10 June 2026, comes amid mounting concerns from residents who say they have lost confidence in the South African Police Service (SAPS) because of persistent crime, alleged policing failures and worsening public safety in the area.
Khumalo, who became widely known through Moja Love’s Sizok’thola, is expected to march alongside community members to the Etwatwa Police Station, where they will call for immediate action from police leadership.
According to ActionSA, the march reflects the party’s commitment to standing with communities that believe their safety concerns have not been adequately addressed. The party says residents deserve accountable policing and a visible response to the challenges affecting their neighbourhoods.
At the centre of the protest is a demand for the immediate removal of the Etwatwa Police Station commander. Organisers argue that stronger leadership is needed to restore public trust and improve the fight against crime in the area.
During the march, a formal memorandum outlining the community’s grievances and demands will be handed to SAPS representatives at the Etwatwa Police Station.
The handover is scheduled to take place at 09:00 on Wednesday, 10 June 2026.
The demonstration is expected to draw attention to broader concerns about policing, accountability and public safety, issues that continue to dominate conversations in many South African communities struggling with high crime levels.
