AmaZulu unveil seven new signings for Arthur Zwane ahead of 2026/27 Betway Premiership season

AmaZulu FC new signings

AmaZulu FC have sent a strong message ahead of the new Betway Premiership season by unveiling seven new players as head coach Arthur Zwane begins shaping a squad capable of competing at the highest level.

The Durban based club confirmed the arrival of several promising talents and experienced campaigners as preparations for the 2026/27 season gather pace. The announcement comes after a memorable 2025/26 campaign in which Usuthu surprised many with a fourth place finish in the league.

With the team currently undergoing a pre-season training camp in Johannesburg, expectations are rising around the club as Zwane looks to build on last season’s progress and create a more competitive side.

Among the biggest additions is talented left-back Omega Mdaka, who arrives from Stellenbosch FC. The defender is joined by former Stellenbosch teammate Khomotjo Lekoloane, a highly rated winger expected to bring creativity and attacking energy to AmaZulu’s squad.

The club has also strengthened its defensive options with the signing of right-back Keenan Phillips, following his spell with Lamontville Golden Arrows. His arrival adds further depth and experience to the backline as Usuthu prepare for a demanding domestic campaign.

AmaZulu strengthen midfield and goalkeeping options

The midfield department has received significant attention during the transfer window, with AmaZulu bringing in Mncedi Vandala from Magesi FC and Gape Moralo from Siwelele FC.

Both players arrive with the aim of adding quality, balance and competition in the middle of the park. Their presence is expected to give Zwane more tactical options as the club targets another strong league finish.

Between the posts, AmaZulu have secured the services of Ivorian goalkeeper Faveur Kouassi from Malian side Djobila AC. The move is expected to increase competition for the goalkeeping position and provide the team with additional security throughout the season.

Kenyan striker Moses Shumah arrives after remarkable goalscoring season

One of the most exciting additions is Kenyan forward Moses Shumah, who joins AmaZulu after an outstanding season with Zambian champions Power Dynamos.

The 23 year old striker enjoyed a prolific 2025/26 campaign, scoring 23 goals across all competitions and establishing himself as one of the most dangerous attacking players in the region.

AmaZulu will hope Shumah can continue that form in South Africa and provide the goals needed to push the club closer to the top end of the Betway Premiership standings.

Sandile Zungu confident new arrivals can make an impact

AmaZulu president Sandile Zungu welcomed the new signings, explaining that the club had carefully selected players who matched its ambitions both on and off the pitch.

Zungu said the recruitment process focused on finding footballers with the required quality, character and determination to contribute to the club’s long term goals.

The AmaZulu president expressed confidence that the new arrivals would play an important role in the team’s journey and wished them success as they begin their careers with Usuthu.

After a season that restored belief among supporters, AmaZulu now enter the new campaign with renewed ambition. With Zwane at the helm and a refreshed squad taking shape, the Durban club will be hoping these additions can help transform promise into a serious challenge for honours.
