Orlando Pirates confirm seven more player exits as major squad overhaul gathers pace

Orlando Pirates news

Orlando Pirates have taken another decisive step in reshaping their squad for the upcoming season, confirming the departure of seven more players as the club’s ambitious rebuilding project gathers momentum.

With several new signings already through the door, speculation has been growing over which players would make way. On Friday, the Soweto giants ended the uncertainty by officially announcing another wave of exits, signalling that preparations for the new campaign are well underway.

The latest departures come after a busy transfer window in which the Buccaneers have focused on strengthening key areas while streamlining their squad ahead of the new Betway Premiership season.

Among the players leaving the club are Thabiso Sesane and Selaelo Rasebotja, who have both completed permanent moves to Siwelele FC.

Siyabonga Ndlozi and Gomolemo Khoto have joined Sekhukhune United, while Sonwabo Khumalo and Blessing Ngiba have secured moves to Midlands FC, a side competing in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Meanwhile, Seth Green has completed a transfer to Durban City, where he will continue his career in the Betway Premiership.

In announcing the departures, Orlando Pirates paid tribute to the players’ commitment during their time at the club and wished each of them success in the next chapter of their careers.

“The club extends its deepest gratitude to each player for their dedication and professionalism during their time with us,” Orlando Pirates said in an official statement.

“On behalf of the entire Orlando Pirates family, the club wishes these players success as they begin the new chapters of their respective careers.”

The seven departures add to an already lengthy list of exits from the club.

Last month, Orlando Pirates confirmed the release of Tshegofatso Mabasa, Bandile Shandu, Karim Kimvuidi, Gilberto, Sipho Mbule, and Thabiso Lebitso, underlining the scale of the changes taking place behind the scenes.

With pre-season preparations continuing and the transfer window still active, supporters can expect further movement in the coming weeks as Orlando Pirates finalise their squad for what promises to be another demanding campaign.

For now, the message from the club is clear. A new-look Orlando Pirates is taking shape, and the rebuilding process is far from over.
