ANC LIMPOPO CONGRATULATES NEWLY ELECTED MAYOR OF GREATER TZANEEN MUNICIPALITY

ANC Limpopo

The African National Congress Provincial Executive Committee has on Monday congratulated the newly appointed mayor of GTM Odas Ngobeni.

Ngobeni was sworn in after the motion of no confidence towards former mayor Gerrison Molapisane at a Special Council Sitting.

Molapisane is amongst the three mayors who have been requested to resign following a decisive decision taken by the PEC in April 2026.

Affected municipalities were Greater Tzaneen, Vhembe District, and Lephalale municipalities.

The ruling party Provincial Spokesperson, Ernest Rachoene, says Ngobeni assumes an important responsibility to serve the people of Greater Tzaneen with integrity.

“Ngobeni assumes this responsibility with a task to advance the ANC Local Government Action with a decisive action plan, to improve service delivery, and also strengthen accountability and restore confidence of the people of Greater Tzaneen. The ANC is confident that he will serve with discipline, integrity, and humanity in executing this important responsibility.” Provincial ANC Spokesperson Ernest Rachoene

Members of the ANC who gathered outside the municipal buildings, demanding the former mayor’s removal, burst into jubilation after the council voted for Ngobeni.

Molapisane has been offered a PR Councilor position under the municipality.
