Betway Premiership D-Day: Survival, Top 8 and title race all on the line

The 2025/26 Betway Premiership season reaches its dramatic conclusion this Saturday, with clubs still fighting for survival, Top8 qualification, and pride on the final day of the campaign.

Among the standout fixtures is the Durban derby between Durban City and AmaZulu FC, while several struggling sides face must-win encounters to avoid disaster.

Here are key matches to watch.

1. Durban City v AmaZulu FC

Durban City knows exactly what is at stake. A place in next season’s MTN8 is within touching distance.

City currently occupies eighth place on the table with 39 points, three ahead of both Stellenbosch FC and Siwelele FC. Victory over neighbours AmaZulu at Chatsworth Stadium would guarantee them a coveted Top8 finish.

AmaZulu, however, will not make life easy for their rivals. Usuthu still has hopes of finishing inside the top four after collecting 44 points from 29 matches.

2. Golden Arrows v TS Galaxy

Golden Arrows are also aiming for a strong finish. Abafana Bes’thende sit sixth with 40 points and want to end the season positively.

TS Galaxy, meanwhile, arrives with confidence after stunning Mamelodi Sundowns 3-2. Although the Rockets can no longer qualify for the MTN8, they will still look to spoil the Arrows’ plans.

3. Magesi FC v Richards Bay

For Magesi, survival is everything.

The Limpopo side head into the clash knowing defeat could seal relegation from the Betway Premiership. A victory could move them into the promotion/relegation playoff spot.

However, their fate also depends on Orbit College’s result against Orlando Pirates.

4. Marumo Gallants v Stellenbosch FC

This clash carries massive implications at both ends of the table.

Marumo Gallants desperately need points to avoid being dragged deeper into relegation trouble.

Stellenbosch FC, meanwhile, still has slim hopes of sneaking into the MTN8 places, although they will also rely on results elsewhere going in their favour.

5. Orbit College v Orlando Pirates

This one is simple. Both teams really need the three points. For Orbit, a win could guarantee them safety from relegation depending on other results.

But even in the worst-case scenario, if they win, they avoid straight relegation and get to fight again in the playoffs. If they draw, they would still get a second chance through the playoffs.

For Pirates, a win guarantees them the championship – a draw or loss means they will again be the bridesmaids to Mamelodi Sundowns.
