The Mpumalanga Counterfeit Task Team, in partnership with DAFF Inspectors, conducted a two-day National Honey Counterfeit and Illicit Goods Operation in the Ehlanzeni District, resulting in the seizure of counterfeit goods and the issuing of non-compliance notices.

On Wednesday, 13 May 2026, a search and seizure warrant was executed at seven shops in Nelspruit and White River. The operation led to the confiscation of 320 items of counterfeit Mountain Honey Syrups, with an estimated street value of R22 485.00. Packs of illicit cigarettes were found abandoned.
In Komatipoort and Tonga, on Tuesday, 12 May 2026, the team visited 30 shops. Some of the shops were issued notices for non-compliance with relevant regulations.
The SAPS encourages members of the public to report the sale or storage of counterfeit goods to their nearest police stations or call #CrimeStop on 08600 10111. Information can also be provided anonymously via the #MySAPSApp, which can be downloaded on any smartphone.
