The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) Region 3 Sector 1 in Pretoria West and Cable Theft Unit arrested five males involved in an armed robbery at Forsig City of Tshwane Electricity Depot today, 14 May 2026.
TMPD received information about the robbery, and officers responded promptly to the scene, where they found security guards being held hostage. The guards were found in distress and reported that armed suspects in three trucks had entered the depot and stolen rolls of electricity cables.

A pursuit was launched based on the description of the trucks involved, resulting in the interception of one truck on Roslyn Road. Three suspects were arrested and were also found in possession of two illegal firearms and a stolen cable roll in their possession.
The suspects revealed that another truck had fled towards Soshanguve, which was later located along with six stolen cable rolls, and two more suspects were arrested. A white Nissan NP200 that was used as an escort vehicle was also recovered.
The five suspects were arrested for armed robbery, theft, and possession of illegal firearms. The scene it is still active for further investigation.
TMPD Chief Commissioner YCR Faro was also at the scene and applauded the officers involved for their bravery and dedication in swiftly responding to the situation.
