The head of the Gauteng Hawks, Major-General Ebrahim Kadwa, has been arrested.
Kadwa was taken into custody today as part of a broader crackdown on alleged corruption among top law enforcement officials.
Kadwa previously testified before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, which is investigating allegations of political interference and corruption within the criminal justice system. In his November 2025 testimony, he confirmed that former Hawks head Godfrey Lebeya had contacted him to verify an operation during the December 2024 arrest of businessman Katiso “KT” Molefe in Sandhurst .
Kadwa told the commission he had dispatched officers to the scene but insisted their brief 10- to 15-minute presence was for “verification, not interference” with the arrest.
