South African motorists will pay significantly more at the pumps from Wednesday, 6 May.
Petrol (both 93 and 95) will increase by R3.27 per litre, while diesel rises by R6.19 per litre. Illuminating paraffin goes up R4.22 per litre, and LP Gas by R5.07 per kilogram.
The hikes follow the partial expiry of a temporary R3-per-litre government relief levy, amid soaring global oil prices driven by Middle East tensions.
Public outrage has erupted over expected knock-on effects on transport fares, food prices, and living costs.
Further adjustments are expected in June.
