Limpopo Government has sought medical service advice from the Minister of Health Dr. Aaron Motsoaledi after the loss of a conjoined twin on Thursday ( 03 April 2026)
Provincial Premier Dr. Phophi Ramathuba has recently blamed unwanted visitors for the death of the infant.
It is believed that the national minister has recommended that the remaining Twin B be transferred to Steve Biko Central and Academic Hospital by a helicopter on Saturday.
Office of the Premier indicated that the decision was taken for precautionary measures, as the team at Mankweng Hospital is deeply affected by the loss.
The conjoined twins were successfully separated at the local hospital on 17 March 2026, following their birth on 28 January 2026.
The highly complex procedure and health care of the twins since their birth were managed by a multidisciplinary team led by Professor Nyaveleni Tshifularo.
The provincial government says it will remain in close contact with the medical teams. It also has committed to give necessary support during this difficult time to the family.
