Kaizer Chiefs have officially granted co-coach Cedric Kaze a temporary release.
This is so he can join the Burundi national team for the current Fifa international break.
The 44-year-old tactician will serve as a Technical Adviser for the Burundi national team known as Intamba m’Urugamba (The Swallows).
The team will be involved in important Caf Africa Cup of Nations preliminary qualifying double-header against Chad.
Burundi is looking to secure their spot in the group stages of the 2027 Afcon qualifiers.
Kaze’s expertise is seen as a vital addition to the bench for these two critical fixtures:
Leg 1: Friday, 27 March v Chad (Away)
Leg 2: Tuesday, 31 March v Chad (Home)
Kaze is a familiar face in the Burundian setup, having previously served as an assistant coach for the national team until 2015.
He then left and moved to North America before eventually joining Nasreddine Nabi’s revolution at Kaizer Chiefs.
The timing of the release is ideal for Amakhosi, who enter the international break on a high.
This is after recording consecutive Betway Premiership wins against Durban City and Magesi FC.
The six-point haul has lifted Chiefs to fourth place on the log with 36 points after 20 games.
Kaze is expected back at the Naturena Village on March 31, immediately after the second leg in Burundi.
He will rejoin the bench for Chiefs’ next league match against Orbit College on Easter Monday, April 6, at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha.
In an official statement, Kaizer Chiefs emphasized their support for Kaze’s professional development.
“The club extends its best wishes to coach Kaze as he shares his expertise and continues to grow his experience on the international stage,” said Chiefs in a statement.
