The National Prosecuting Authority’s Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) has arrested 12 senior police officers and a company director in connection with the alleged irregular awarding of a tender to Medicare 24.
According to NPA spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago, all 13 accused are expected to make their first appearance before the Pretoria Magistrates’ Court on charges of corruption, fraud, and contravention of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).
The arrests mark a major development in the ongoing investigation into alleged corruption surrounding the Medicare 24 contract.
