A prosecutor from Randburg Magistrates’ Court has been arrested and appeared in court today after a woman accused him of sexually assaulting her while she was trying to get help with her brother’s case.
Dinesh Nandkisoor (a regional court prosecutor) handed himself over at Randburg Police Station on 23 March 2026. He was immediately arrested and charged with sexual assault, sexual intimidation, two counts of corruption, and defeating the ends of justice. Because he works closely with staff at Randburg court, the case was moved to Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court.
The woman says she was referred to Nandkisoor for assistance with her brother’s matter. During a follow-up visit, he allegedly behaved inappropriately, made indecent advances and tried to force her into a sexual act. The next day she reported it to a community leader, who went with her to confront him. He denied everything but allegedly offered to drop her brother’s case if she kept quiet and didn’t report the incident.
The matter was postponed to 30 March 2026 for a formal bail application. Nandkisoor remains behind bars, and the State will oppose his release on bail.
The National Director of Public Prosecutions, Advocate Andy Mothibi, said the NPA will prosecute everyone – including its own staff – without fear or favour. “All NPA members must live up to our code of conduct. If they don’t, the law will take its course,” he added.
